Facing a very challenging year in my current position, I reached out to Deb for guidance on how I could better my situation. I didn’t know how to address my coworkers or the conflict that was hanging in the air between us. Deb said we needed to take a multi-step approach and first identify my responsibilities, strengths and perceived weaknesses.
From there we worked on a course of action for my personal items as well as how to address my coworkers neutrally so they would understand I was coming from a neutral and positive standpoint. She educated me on how to communicate with the diverse group that I work with and the message and feedback was received favorably.
Fast forward to a new position opportunity coming available that my unique skill set would fit perfectly. I was very interested but stressed about leaving my current position, how it and I be perceived? Deb helped me focus on my list of pro’s and con’s and through her inquisitive coaching style guided me to devise a turnover plan of action that I was very happy with and one that allowed me to focus on presenting the best possible package to the hiring board of the new position.
I was selected out of a very experienced pool of candidates, and when I presented the turnover plan, my former office was incredibly pleased. I wasn’t leaving anyone stranded going forward and I felt like I had given each situation my best attention. The gratitude and respect among my peers and supervisors in this organization was enriched by my approach that ultimately I have Deb to thank for guiding me.
I recommend Deb because her level of passion for what she does matched mine and that is priceless. She listens and picks up on emotions, beliefs, behavior patterns and traits that force you to really evaluate what is most important to you and your situation. I learned valuable ways to communicate with various types of people and enrich friendships and working relationships in the process. I tend to take on more responsibility than I should (another thing she helped me realize) and in turn, I get overwhelmed/overworked.
Deb helped me to distinguish between helping and assuming others work so I can avoid the overwhelmed feeling going forward. Now when I recognize it I will divert my energy to another task and come back to it so I can assess what I can take and what I need to redirect.
Thank you for making work an inspiring challenge again Deb! ~ L.L.
